   I never leave levoitoutlet.com reviews but I really geeked out over this…specifically the reviews about EMF & radiation. I had to do an experiment of my own… (Note: I am not a scientist.) SUMMARY: yes, this Levoit model DOES have much higher than usual EMF compared to other home appliances & electronics. DETAILS: I bought this air purifier over a year ago. It worked fine, for the money. (I am sure those $500 ones are fantastic. But this one did the trick.) We moved recently to a new apartment. And I wanted to get a second purifier to use in the area where the litterboxes are (which is pretty close to the living room/kitchen). I went back to the purifier I bought a year ago… went down to the reviews (which maybe I skipped the first time)… and was slightly horrified when I read all these reviews of people saying it had high EMF. What is EMF?! Is it dangerous!? How much?! So that’s when the rabbit hole began… First – I want to acknowledge that there is some inconclusive evidence about how dangerous EMF is. You can google & read up on it — but it sounds like in the scientific community there are some mixed conclusions. Next – I did a bunch of air purifier research. Is EMF common for air purifiers? I couldn’t fully figure it out. So I decided to buy my own EMF tester, a new (but different model) air purifier also from Levoit, and do a little testing… RESULTS: See attached photos. This Levoit Model: – Yes, the Levoit model (BLACK in photo) I had for over one year had an extremely high score when I went up close to it. The score went higher on the higher settings. The photo I have is from the highest setting & very close. (First Photo) – However, when you step a few feet away – it was fine. Even at about 2 feet away it was OK/the detector went off. The new pet Levoit model I just purchased: – It still gave a high reading compared to other home appliances. But much less than the current Levoit model I had for 1+ years. (In the photos – it is the white purifier. Photo 2 is at the lowest setting on it. Photo 3 shows the highest setting for it.) Other appliances: – Our 77 inch TV + soundbar was 0 re: EMF (h-field). (4th picture) – The router barely spit off a number. (5th picture – I am looking at the bottom # which is the magnetic field) – And the microwave? Lower than I thought it would be. Yes, the microwave is on! (6th photo) Note: the microwave here is very new, and very high quality. I am sure an older microwave could have a very different reading. – I tested our heating/cooling unit in the wall — nothing alarming. (7th photo) AND THEN – I decided to test two more, similar things: a cheap, crappy fan and a space heating. The cheap, crappy fan had a horrifically high EMF reader. Higher than the Levoit model in question. (And it’s so much smaller, too!?) (8th photo. This was turned on the highest setting.) I thought the little space heater would spit out an insanely high reading as well… but to my surprise, it did not. (Last photo.) CONCLUSION: – I am getting rid of this Levoit model, and I am getting rid of the crappy little fan with an even higher EMF result – I want to reiterate that when I walked just a tiny bit away from the Levoit air purifier, the EMF tester stopped going off. It only was when you were really close to it that it gave a very high reading. – I am holding onto the Pet Levoit for now…. (literally got it today) – But I am going to order a different brand, well-researched air purifier and see what that looks like in terms of EMF reading (and possibly return the Pet Levoit — white in photos.) – If a new purifier, from a different brand w/ good reviews, also has a high(er than usual) EMF reading – I may start to think that most/all plug-in air devices are this way!? Who knows. —– Anyway, hope this helps some people!!

   Cela fait maintenant deux ans que je l’ai et que je l’utilise. Appareil efficace si on le laisse longtemps dans une grande pièce et peu de temps dans une petite.
   Je suis légèrement sujet aux allergie, cad que l’allergie me met sur les rotules seulements 1 ou 2 semaines (cumulé) par an et quand je ne vais pas bien en été je le lance.
   J’ai aussi eu l’occasion de l’utiliser lors d’un enfumage. Très performant cela dit j’ai du changer le filtre et lui faire prendre l’air quelque jours au garage pour supprimer l’odeur de fumer de la machine. Je recommanderai donc l’appareil pour des utilisations ponctueles, pour des personnes avec une allergie moyenne ou faible. En marche moyenne ou faible très peu bruyant sauf si vous êtes du genre à ne pas dormir au moindre bruit. Bonne expérience me concernant.

   Édition: cela doit maintenant bien faire 5 ans que je l’ai et il fonctionne toujours très bien. Le filtre reste propre longtemps également si utilisé dans une pièce relativement propre et à une fréquence faible.

   I got this a few weeks ago for my bedroom. The air has been super dusty ever since a massive cleaning sent dust flying from every hard to reach book and cranny. While reading the setup guide. I saw that it couldn’t go within 15” of an obstruction on any side. I decided to place it near my laundry hamper and bedroom door. Within a day I noticed that my room smelled much better (I had apparently gone nose blind to the laundry smell) but the air quality wasn’t any better. In fact, dust seemed like it was floating around more than ever. In the next few weeks I noticed if I brought a cup of water to my room, within a few hours it would get little dust floaters coating the top of the cup. I saw a picture of someone else’s review that put the filter on top of a tall piece of furniture. Yesterday, I decided to try that-maybe it would help. Immediately, I noticed things were way worse. I could barely breathe, coughing and choking on all the dust flying through the air. So I sat and thought about it-why is this happening?? If the filter made the smell go away then why is it making the dust worse??? Then it clicked, the dust was getting sucked through the air to the filter, flying around everywhere, before the filter would even get a chance to clean it out. I investigated, where was the dust doming from, and it occurred to me, the supply air duct. Sure enough, once I took the vent off I could see a pile of dust or dirt and grime at the bottom of the vent. I cleaned the vent out as best I could, and moved the filter next to the vent. This morning I woke up with no dust floaters in my water cup and the air feels easier to breathe. My next step if I still have problems will be to get the air ducts in the house professionally cleaned.

   HEAPフィルター付きで、月1のメンテで長持ちするとの事で、購入。レベル3段階ある2でも、少し音は気になるかも。寝る時はレベル1で良いかと。まだ設置したばかりなので、機能は分からないですが、見た目等とても良くライト付いてるので、夜寝る時は弱で付けておくのもよいかと思います。ただ、説明書に、フィルターメンテナンス方法書いてないので残念。

    I barely ever write reviews. I’m just laying here right now in the middle of the night thinking how amazing this air purifier is and enjoying the sound as well as the soft blue light its currently emitting. This thing has lasted five full years so far with no issues I keep it right next to my parakeet’s cage about every three months. I have to change it and when I go to change it, the old one is caked and white powder from my bird it just goes to show how important and life-saving something like this is. This is a necessity for everyone if this thing ever breaks I’m buying a new one for sure the same exact one. Don’t hesitate to get one now.
